So with the breastfeeding mom in mind, I’ve put together a collection of thoughtful gifts and ideas. I’m sure you’ll find something great to give!
And keep reading to discover my picks for the best gifts for breastfeeding moms!
Practical Gifts for Breastfeeding Moms
When you’re talking “practical” breastfeeding gifts, you gotta think about the basics. When a mom decides she’s going to breastfeed, she needs some getting started items, right? So for the mom who doesn’t have any kind of breastfeeding supplies, consider these gifts (and they make great items to add to a nursing gift bag or basket!)
With breastfeeding comes leaky breasts. There’s just no way around it. So all mommies will need protection to keep clothing clean and dry. Disposable nursing pads are great, but washable ones are nice because they’re notably softer. They’re reusable, too, so the savings are significant.
With breastfeeding comes nipples that need to be soothed. The great thing about nursing creams is that they are quite natural – important for mom AND baby – and if momma is prone to drying, cracking, and soreness, these will really help.
The ones I’ve chosen here are top-rated picks by breastfeeding moms.
Even when mom is exclusively breastfeeding, she may want to start storing milk. And for moms going back to work, pumping is essential.
Some moms want or need to increase milk supply and pumping is associated with supporting a healthy supply.
Check out these breastfeeding pumping systems that are highly-rated and regarded by moms using these very systems!

Breastmilk Storage Gift Ideas and Solutions
If mama is pumping, she needs to be able to store what she pumps. Some moms will only need a couple of bags or bottles while others are exclusively pumping. And then, there are all the mamas in-between who need more options than a few and less than a lot.
What I like about these ideas below is that they can be a part of a larger gift like a nursing-themed gift bag or basket.
Mom also needs to be able to store what she stores! Organizing bins are great, as are insulated bags for being able to take stored breastmilk on-the-go.

Next up on mom’s must-have breastfeeding gift list is apparel. Nursing bras, tops, tanks, cover-ups…she’ll need to be able to have functional clothing that looks and feels good.
If you’re not comfortable choosing clothing that requires a decision about size, cover-ups are a great and very thoughtful gift idea. Mom may or may not be shy, but she should have the choice of covering up!

Gifts that Pamper the Breastfeeding Mother
If you know that the breastfeeding mom already has the basics covered and you’re pretty sure she has a stash of her favorite snacks, it’s time to think about pampering the nursing mother. After all, she’s working very hard taking care of her little one and she needs to be taking care of herself, too!
You have to be creative here because breastfeeding moms have to be conscious of what they use on their skin.
Luckily, I’ve found some great picks – that don’t include lotions and perfumes! – that’ll have her feeling pampered in no time.

DIY Gifts for Breastfeeding Moms
Maybe you’re the crafty type and know the value that’s instilled in a homemade gift. I get that! I love giving and receiving homemade goodies.
Homemade Baby-Safe Nipple Balm
One very thoughtful gift is nipple balm since just about every nursing mother will experience soreness or worse.
No need to add scents – it’s better for mom and baby!
This recipe is super easy…just mix, melt, cool, and pour. Makes about an ounce of balm.
Melt all ingredients in a small pot over low heat. Pour into glass or tin container and allow cool. Cover and package to give as a gift.
To use: using fingertips, rub a small amount onto nipples and areolas.
Lactation Cookie in a Jar
A super easy gift she’s sure to love is a lactation cookie in a jar! Find a recipe that looks like a good one (I like this one) and fill a large mason jar with the dry ingredients in layers.
Create a recipe card with all of the ingredients needed as well as directions for preparation and a list of what’s already included in the jar.
Then you can add a pretty label you designed and printed or simply package with a pretty ribbon and bow.
Of course, you can also simply give the gift of premade lactation cookies, too.
The nursing mom will love tasty treats that boost her milk supply!
Breastfeeding Basket Gift Idea
Get a pretty bag or basket – wicker laundry baskets work well and baby tubs are a functional AND cute packaging idea! – and fill it with items for the breastfeeding mom. Things like breastfeeding cream, storage bags and bottles, books, snacks, small baby items, super soft baby blankets, and even a throw blanket for mom and baby to cozy up in.
